Spring Arts Festival St. Anthony School celebrated the arts with their annual Art Festival Day. Troughout this school year, the theme of art classes has been Art Around the World, with the most recent unit being Roman art. In keeping with the theme, the Arts Day focused on multicultural art. Students in Mrs. Catherine Darling’s art class had the opportunity to watch and participate in multiple demonstrations given by local Greenville artists, April Harrison, Cecelia Ho, Diana Moscoso and Susan Brewer. Spring Arts Festival Top: Felting artist, Cecelia Ho, spoke to the students about nee- dle felting. Cecelia Ho’s original works have been custom made and showcased around the world. Following a talk and demon- stration, students were able to try their hand at needle felting and worked with the artist to create bookmarks. Lef: Nationally known artist, April Harrison, spoke to the stu- dents about collage art. In this interactive session, students were able to create their own collage pieces with the guidance of Ms. Harrison. A very special piece of artwork by April Harrison hangs in the front hall of St. Anthony School. Parent University Graduation St. Anthony School parents who participated in Parent University were recognized at a special graduation in May. Tis is the second year of St. Anthony Parent Uni- versity, a year long program with workshops designed to enhance parent engagement in their children’s educa- tion. Parent University has been supported by a grant from the Dabo Swinney, All In Team Foundation. St. Anthony Sky Knights Visit McEntire Air Force Base The St. Anthony School Sky Knights, an after-school club of aviation studies, recently visited McEn- tire Reserve Air Force Base in Hopkins, South Carolina. The Sky Knights toured munitions sup- plies, the Viper aircraft and the control tower, fol- lowed by lunch with Lieutenant Colonel Tom Watts. St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School newsletter 7
